Enterprise software is a relatively mature market covering areas such as HR, Sales, Marketing, Finance and IT but mostly dominated by just a handful of global stalwarts like IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP. Due to complexity of software, restriction of policies and regulations and high cost-structure of complex projects, it is a market that’s extraordinarily difficult for start-ups (or ISVs) to break into therefore a relatively uninteresting area for venture capital to scout for start-ups. But Software as a Service (SaaS) is changing this because they are:

Built using modern open low-cost tools and geared for rapid deployment
Delivered as a service, hosted multi-tenant, supported, and maintained by vendors for easy and rapid configuration, branding and upgrading
Intuitive and easy to learn, less demanding in user training therefore lowering overall cost

As a result, SaaS applications are beginning to unlock the stranglehold that big stalwarts have once held and become a new target for VCs to scout for promising growth companies.

In this event we’ll have a panel of experts to take an in-depth look at this emerging trend in both US and China and highlight the following topics

	Fred M. Greguras, Partner, K&L Gates Mr. Greguras is a partner in the Palo Alto office of K&L Gates who focuses his practice on strategic issues for global software, internet, clean technology, media and life sciences companies - with an emphasis on the start-up and emerging company stages. This includes, in particular, financings of various types, M&A and a full range of other transactions in both domestic and international marketplaces. In the international arena, Mr. Greguras has substantial experience representing companies with a market focus on or operations in China, Vietnam and India, and in supporting investors from those countries. During his 25-plus year tenure in the Silicon Valley, Mr. Greguras has also been a venture capitalist and a general counsel and CFO for a startup. Top
	Robert Wang, VP&GM, BroadVision Robert is responsible for BroadVision’s global services business and an expert in IT strategy, software engineering, and global HR management, especially for multinational corporations operating in China. Prior to his current position, Robert was BroadVision’s CIO, and held senior management positions at Siebel Systems, RightWorks, IBM Research, and Intel. Robert has a Ph.D. in EECS from the University of California at Berkeley and a MBA from San Jose State University. Robert is an adjunct professor at the School of Software Engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University and the Training Center of the Computing Institute of the Chinese Academy of Science. 	Josh Williams, President and Chief Science Officer, Kontagent Josh is responsible for strategic revenue projects, data science and R&D. He is responsible for driving Kontagent's world class proprietary data processing, analysis platform and algorithms into new verticals and markets. A serial entrepreneur, Josh has led two successful start-ups to two large exits - the first as CTO at an early big data firm in automated real-time financial securities analysis which was acquired in 2003, and the second as CEO and CTO at a leading game technology company which was acquired in early 2007. Josh is an investor and loves helping other entrepreneurs however he can. In his personal time, he... well, mostly just works more, much to his lovely wife's bemusement and occasional chagrin. Top
	Luosheng Peng PhD., CEO & President, Co-founder of GageIn Dr. Luosheng Peng is a serial entrepreneur and currently serves as the CEO & President at GageIn. Prior to GageIn, Dr. Peng founded InnoPath in September 1999, a leader in mobile device management, and served as its CTO & President from September 1999 - March 2003, Chairman & CEO from April 2003-September 2005, and Chairman and CTO from October 2005 - June 2007. Under Dr. Peng's leadership, InnoPath made the world's first commercial launch of mobile device management at NTT DoCoMo, expanded its business dramatically in Asia Pacific and North America from 2001 to 2005, and doubled its revenues year-over-year for more than 5 consecutive years. InnoPath raised more than $55M in venture capital and reached profitability in 2006. Dr. Peng went to the Graduate School of Huazhong University of Science & Technology in 1982 before he was sent overseas by the Ministry of Education in China with full government-granted scholarship in 1983. He earned his PhD in Applied Artificial Intelligence from Kobe University in 1989 and received three Awards of Excellent Papers from the Japanese Government. Dr. Peng moved to Silicon Valley in 1995 when he worked on a joint project of neural computing between Mitsubishi Electric and Stanford University. Top
	Alex Hu, VP Technology, Salesforce.com Alex Hu is VP Technology, Data.com at salesforce.com, responsible for all engineering functions at Data.com business unit. Salesforce.com is the leader in enterprise cloud computing with over 104,000 customers. Data.com is one of the key product lines offered by salesforce.com, bringing the most complete and accurate business data to its customers. Prior to joining Data.com, Alex built and led the development organization responsible for all products in salesforce.com’s Sales Cloud product line. His team consistently delivered innovative applications to a large customer base with success. Some of the key products developed by his team include: Accounts and Contacts, Opportunities and Quotes, Analytics and Forecasting, Partner Relationship Management, Salesforce to Salesforce, and Financial Services Edition. Alex joined salesforce.com in March of 2000 as one of the company’s early developers. As a principal member of the technical staff, Alex spent his first 5 years building salesforce.com’s award winning, multi-tenant cloud computing applications. He successfully delivered numerous projects in the areas of infrastructure, user interface, internationalization, sales force automation, and salesforce.com's original billing system. salesforce.com, Alex was a senior developer and manager at iSearch, a SaaS company focused on enterprise recruiting applications. 	Yu-Kai Chou, Founder, CEO, RewardMe Mr. Yu-Kai Chou is a serial entrepreneur in the geo-local rewards space and a regular lecturer/speaker on social media and gamification at places like Stanford, Google, and other VC Gatherings. He is now the Founder/CEO of RewardMe, the Social CRM for Local Commerce. RewardMe is listed by AlwaysOn as one of the Global 250 Top 10 to Watch Technologies. Previously, Yu-kai was the CEO of FDCareer, which was listed as one of the Top 10 Social Networks for Gen Ys. Yu-kai is also a board advisor for a number of organizations and startup companies in California and Israel. 	Kevin Mahaffey, Founder & CTO, Lookout Kevin is an entrepreneur and technologist with a background in security, wireless, and web applications. He is the CTO of Lookout, which he co-founded in 2007. Kevin is responsible for driving Lookout¹s technology to protect people from current and future threats while keeping the product simple and easy to use. He started programming when he was 8 years old and it has been a love affair ever since.
